Scratchy audio

My friend (Boston) and I (Manila) tried to connect on SoundJack today. We tried different latency and sample buffer combinations, but we couldn’t hear each other. Whenever one of us tried to talk, there would be a scratchy sound coming out on the other end. What are your tips for connecting with other SoundJack users long distance?
